Workplace Health and Safety Nominations 2026

This form is to be filled out for nominations for the 2026 Health and Safety Award presented by the Durham Region Labour Council, Peterborough & District Labour Council, Lindsay & District Labour Council, and Northumberland Labour Council on Thursday, November 12, 2026.

Nominations to be completed by October 12th, 2026. Please note that we will contact the winning recipient and their union contacts.

Calling all members of the Durham Region Labour Council! We’re proud to open nominations for our Health and Safety Activist Award, honouring worker representatives who have gone above and beyond to champion health and safety in the workplace.

Who Can Be Nominated? We invite nominations for any bargaining unit member in a worker representative role, such as:

-Health and Safety Representative

-Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) Member

-Steward

-Unit Chair

-Local Union Executive Board Member

-President

Eligibility Criteria: To qualify for this award, the nominee must:

-Demonstrate exceptional unpaid volunteer efforts in their representative role.

-Contribute to the elimination of workplace hazards and the protection of workers’ health and safety.

-Not be a salaried employee of the WHSC.

Why Nominate? This is an excellent opportunity to recognize and celebrate the hard work and dedication of our fellow members who have made significant strides in creating safer work environments for all.

WHEN: Thursday, November 12, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM
