Join us for an engaging and informative workshop that breaks down how municipal government works in Ontario, and why local elections are such a powerful opportunity to advance workers’ interests.

This event is open to anyone interested in the upcoming municipal elections – whether you’re considering running yourself or want to play a role in supporting progressive candidates at the city, regional, or school board trustee level from across the region.

Together, we’ll explore how municipal governments are structured, including the roles of mayors, councillors, and school board trustees, and how their decisions shape the issues that matter most in our daily lives, from housing and transit to infrastructure and public services.

You’ll also be introduced to The Five M’s of Winning Municipal Elections, a practical framework that highlights the essential building blocks of a successful campaign. In addition, we’ll learn the Ganz model of organizing and concrete tools that have proven success in progressive campaigns across North America. The session will also touch on candidate recruitment strategies, showing how labour and community networks can identify and support strong potential candidates for municipal office.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with a clearer understanding of Ontario’s municipal political landscape, and the tools needed to help build winning campaigns at the local level.

**FREE lunch included. Let us know any dietary restrictions in the RSVP form.
